Out and About with the Pondering Cyclist

The not yet world famous Bicycle Happy Face making its appearance in Malone's Pub in FTW

Recently -- after making the move to Dallas -- I built up a new toy.  Not so much a toy, though, more of a Utilitarian-Transport Urban Fixie-Cross Rig.  This was exactly what I needed in my life, a bike with big tires, one amazing V brake and massive BMX pedals.  A bike I can ride everywhere without putting on special shoes, that has a rack which I can attach things to.  I ride it to work, around downtown, on both dirt and gravel roads on the levee... everywhere!  I rode it to Fort Worth the other night, 40 miles.

So I've been getting around.  I was talking to a friend a couple months ago -- before my move out here -- and I told him that while I might be moving further away from Fort Worth than I was before I would actually be moving closer.  How?  Before I lived 8 miles from the nearest train station and now one is only 4 blocks down the street.  It cuts my travel time in half!
